Therapy for Children & Teens
Working with children and teens has been a central focus of my career. Over the last 10 years, I have studied child development and mental health extensively in higher education, and I bring this background into my work with every young person and family I meet. My approach is rooted in warmth, trust, and collaboration — creating spaces where children and teens feel safe, supported, and empowered.
Child Therapy
Children often express themselves best through play, art, and movement. That’s why I use play therapy and art therapy techniques to help kids process emotions in ways that feel natural and fun. I am also trained in Sources of Strength for Elementary Youth and have worked in child-centered organizations that focus on supporting both children and their parents.
In my work with children, I:
Create a warm and engaging space where kids can build trust and feel in charge of their therapy experience.
Take a strength-based approach, focusing on what’s already working well while helping kids build new emotional and coping skills.
Use play, creativity, and fun to make skill-building feel safe and approachable.
My goal is to help children feel more confident, resilient, and supported in their everyday lives.
Teen Therapy
Adolescence is a time of big changes — socially, emotionally, and academically. With years of experience working as a school-based therapist, I understand the unique pressures teens face and the importance of providing them with a safe, nonjudgmental space to grow.
In my work with teens, I:
Support them in managing school stress and finding strategies for academic success.
Help strengthen healthy relationships at home and with peers.
Integrate their interests and strengths into therapy, making it more relatable and effective.
Therapy for teens is a chance to explore identity, build coping skills, and navigate challenges with greater confidence and connection.
Family Therapy & Parent Coaching
Therapy doesn’t just support children and teens — it also provides opportunities to strengthen the entire family system. I have spent many years studying how emotions are socialized in family systems and how these dynamics affect youth mental health.
I offer:
Shared skill-building to create a common language between parents and children.
Parent coaching, offering tools, strategies, and guidance to help caregivers feel more confident.
Support for bridging connection between kids and parents so the whole family benefits from therapy.
When parents and children learn together, it creates stronger connections, healthier communication, and more resilient families.
A Message for Kids & Teens
Hi! I’m really glad you’re here. Coming to therapy might feel a little new or strange at first, and that’s totally okay. My job is to get to know you, listen to what matters to you, and make sure you feel comfortable.
In our time together, we might talk, play games, draw, or use art to explore what’s going on in your life. You get to have a say in what we do — because this is your space. My goal is for you to feel safe, supported, and heard while making therapy feel fun and inviting.
